Reinhold F. Glei, born 1959 in Remscheid/Germany, studied Classical and Medieval Latin and Greek Philology and Philosophy at the University of Cologne, where he got his Ph.D. in 1983. From 1984 to 1990, he was Research Assistant at the University of Bochum. In 1989, he gained a habilitation degree from Bochum. After several teaching positions at Düsseldorf, Göttingen and Bielefeld, he was appointed full professor of Classics at the University of Bielefeld. In 1996 he went to Bochum University, where he holds the chair of Latin Philology. Appointments to Heidelberg (1999) and Bonn (2004) he rejected. He is PI at the Centre of Religious Studies in Bochum and Head of the University Examination Board. His main fields of research are Christian-Muslim relations, translation theory and neo-Latin literature.
