Dr Michele Petrone

Michele Petrone (PhD Napoli 2013) studies the circulation and interaction of text and manuscripts, focusing on the role played by readers and users. His main research area is the textual tradition of Sufism in its diverse forms, from popular poetry to occult texts. He has held a position of post-doc at the University of Copenhagen (2013-2018, ERC - Islam in the Horn of Africa) and at the Université Catholique de Louvain (ERC -Philosophy in al-Andalus). His current research is focused on Qur’ānic manuscripts after the sack of Buda and the definition of “ottoman Qur’ān”.
