May 5-6, 2022 – NYUAD Campus – Abu Dhabi
Recognizing Religions is an international research initiative embedded in the Humanities Research Fellowship for the Study of the Arab World program. The project aims to further a conversation about intellectual, legal, theological, and spiritual processes and concepts at work when members of religious communities interact with each other.
In this first in-person event, organized within the framework of this initiative, we will explore how Christians, Muslims, and Jews engage with each other’s ‘Sacred Scriptures’ – from philosophical and historical perspectives.
In collaboration with the ERC funded project The European Qur’an. Islamic Scripture in European Religion and Culture, 1150-1850 this event will showcase ongoing research projects into Muslim readings of the Bible and Christian and Jewish approaches to the Qur’an.
The keynote, “The Iberian Qur’an” with Mercedes García-Arenal Rodríguez (CSIC, Madrid) on May 5 at 4 pm is open to the public.
The event is online. If you wish to register, please write to nyuad.programs@nyu.edu.
