Skills of Arabic and Latin are needed.
Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of the leading research universities in Germany. As a reform-oriented campus university, it uniquely combines the entire range of major scientific fields as well as the so-called small subjects in one place and offers researchers and students alike special opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
The planned Collaborate Research Center (SFB) 1475 “Metaphors of Religion” brings together research in religious studies, philology and linguistics and centers on the significance of metaphors for the formation of religious meaning. Research will be historical-diachronic as well as culturally comparative.
Subject to funding by the German Research Foundation, the position of a Research Associate (PhD/Postdoc#) is available at the Collaborative Research Center in subproject C01. This project focuses on Latin and Arabic grammar as a source domain for religious metaphors.
