In Nantes, the Municipal Library, in partnership with Nantes University and the research team “The European Qur’an” (EuQu), will present the exhibition “Le Coran, des histoires européennes” from May 17 to August 31, 2025. The Muslim sacred text has been part of European history since the 8th century, when Islam first reached the continent. The exhibition explores the complexity of the Quran’s presence in Europe in a thematic and chronological sequence around works of art, manuscripts, books, and digital media that present a wide range of European encounters with the Quran: designed for all audiences to collectively question what brings us together, it offers a rich program throughout its presentation: mediations, visits, concerts, conferences, performances, films, and calligraphy workshops.

Artworks, manuscripts, books, and digital media present a wide range of European encounters with the Quran. Throughout the exhibition, works from the valuable collections of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the Musée Dobrée, the Musée d’arts de Nantes, the Musée des Beaux-arts de Mulhouse, the Bibliothèque municipale de Nantes, the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève in Paris, and the Centre des archives diplomatiques de Nantes are featured.
